Tempe Canal Floodplain
Delineation Study - Maricopa County, AZ

Client: Flood Control District of Maricopa County
For the Tempe Canal floodplain delineation study, Hoskin Ryan revised the existing FEMA Zone A floodplain along the east side of the canal and created comprehensive HEC-1 hydrologic modeling for the approximately 26-square-mile watershed. In addition to surface runoff, large retention storage, street flow, split flow analysis, and storm drain flow routing were included in the hydrologic modeling. HEC-RAS hydraulic modeling was used to further define the 100-year floodplain in critical locations. Following completion of the analysis, approximately 250 elevation certificates were prepared for properties located within the newly revised floodplain.
